The seasonal shift of winds created by the great annual temperature variation between land areas and ocean surfaces. The monsoon is associated primarily with stable winds which change their direction only 2 times in a year. With the wind moist air with vast precipitation occurs. The pattern is most evident on the southern and eastern sides of Asia, although it does occur elsewhere, such as in the southwestern United States.
